What happens after my solar PV system has been installed?

After your solar panel installation is complete, you can carry out the following steps to ensure optimal performance and maintenance of your system:

  1. Conduct a DIY check: Verify the performance of your solar panels by monitoring their output. Smart Energy Answers installs only top of the line solar systems that come with apps that you can use to monitor your system performance. If you have any concerns or questions, you can contact us by phone or email.

  2. Change your meter: The traditional accumulation meter will need replacement with a smart meter to accurately measure electricity flow, including what you feed back to the grid.

  3. Shop around for a good feed-in tariff: You can check various electricity providers to ensure you are getting the best deal. Now that you have solar, your consumption will be less, so choose a provider that you find gives you a good balance between feed in tariffs and consumption rates.

  4. Add solar to your home insurance: Ensure that your solar panels are included in your home insurance coverage and reflected in your sum insured. As solar panels increase property value, updating your sum insured is crucial to avoid being underinsured in case of damage or loss.

  5. Maintenance: Solar panels installed on an inclined axis will most likely be cleaned properly with rain. If you find that your production is declining you can get professional cleaning to ensure optimal performance.

By following these post-installation steps, you can ensure that your solar energy system operates efficiently and effectively, providing long-term benefits for your home and the environment.
